The Music Committee is pleased to announce that Ruth McKendree Treen has been appointed the new UUMH Music Director. Not only is Ruth a highly respected choral conductor on the Lower Cape, she is also a Chatham resident and has long been a member of the UUMH.
Ruth served as Director of Music at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Harwich Port for seven years and at the First Congregational Church of Chatham for five years. Ruth also performs with pianist Art McManus in A/RT DUO, a piano/organ ensemble, and will continue to conduct the 80-voice Mid Cape Chorus, the Chatham Interfaith Choir, the Chatham Music Club Singers, and the popular Pilgrim Pops Chorus. This Labor Day weekend marks the 13th Annual Pilgrim Pops concert. (At the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Harwich Port at 5 PM on September 2 and 3.)
Although the UUMH Choir will be singing for services beginning Sunday, September 9, Ruth “officially” takes over on September 23 when choir rehearsals will also begin.
